Green mobility at the Hanover Trade Fair

Technology meets progress: the focus at the Hannover Messe 2012, which is taking place under the motto “greentelligence” from April 23 to 27, is on “green” technologies. The world’s key technology event with eight flagship exhibitions and more than 230,000 visitors is regarded as the international showcase of numerous German industrial sectors and the world’s largest fair for capital goods. The fair covers important industrial trends with themes such as energy technologies, energy efficiency and urban living. The key theme of “greentelligence” is not only showing the latest innovations in environmental technology; it is also spotlighting the intelligent combination of efficient processes, eco-friendly materials and sustainable commodities in industrial production processes. The fair will be opened by Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and China’s Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. China – the most important sales market for capital goods made in Germany – is this year’s partner country at the Hannover Messe. Chinese companies are showing intelligent solutions surrounding sustainability: products and research results in the fields of sustainable energy production, intelligent energy networks and automation. “Gaining China as the 2012 partner country has been a real stroke of luck,” the chairman of Deutsche Messe, Wolfram von Fritsch, told the “Handelsblatt” newspaper. He said that China’s participation at the Hannover Messe will be the most extensive individual industrial show abroad that the country has organized so far.

A key theme in the partner country’s presentation is mobility. Only recently, the Chinese government presented some ambitious plans for the country to increase investment in the research and development of eco-friendly vehicle technologies. The German-Chinese conference on electro-mobility at the Hannover Messe will be addressing future-oriented mobility – an area in which Germany and China are already cooperating together.
